Renew My Visa

Overview

Please note that applicants applying with Syrian passports are not eligible for the interview waiver renewal process, even if they are legally resident in Jordan.  If you are renewing in accordance with the requirements, your interview with the consular officer will be waived.  In some cases, an in-person interview may be required at the Embassy to provide fingerprints or if the consular officer evaluating your case needs further information

Update to the Visa Renewal Process and Interview Waiver for Some Petition- Based Visa Applicants

The U.S. Embassy in Amman is processing limited numbers of visa renewals without interviews for most visa categories, including B1/B2 tourist visas, F/M/J student and exchange visitor visas, C1/D crew visas, and H/L/R work visas.  Please follow the below steps to determine if you qualify for this service.  Any application received that does not have a valid confirmation sheet or that falsely answered eligibility questions to receive a confirmation sheet will be returned without processing.  Failing to provide required documents, including a valid passport or a new photograph, will result in the delay of your visa application.

Applicants applying for a first-time F, H-1, H-3, H-4, non-blanket L, M, O, P, Q, and academic J visa who were previously issued any class of visa may be eligible for the Interview Waiver program.  Please follow the ATLAS “Visa Renewal Without Interview” process to determine if you qualify for this program and submit your documentation following the instructions if so.

  • Login to your ustraveldocs.com profile, select the “Visa Renewal Without Interview” category.
  • Select the correct visa class and enter your personal and contact information.
  • Answer the interview waiver ineligibility questions.
  • If you do not qualify, you must wait to schedule an in-person interview. The Embassy is not currently processing routine B1/B2 visa interviews.  When the Embassy resumes routine B1/B2 interviews again, that information will be posted here.
  • If you qualify, you will be asked to select a location for document delivery, associate your MRV visa fee receipt to your profile, and select the date and time you will drop off your documents at Aramex. You must include the confirmation letter generated by the system when dropping off your documents. You must also include all documents listed on the confirmation letter, including your valid passport, the DS-160 application form confirmation page, a new photograph, and all current and expired passports

Visa Renewal for Student, Exchange, and Work Visas via Embassy Drop-off

If you currently have a valid F, M, J, H, or L visa (F1, F2, M1, M2, J1, J2, H1B, H4, L1A, L1B, or L2) in your passport and need to renew your visa at the U.S. Embassy in Amman, you may also drop off your documents in person at the Embassy. Bring all required documentation and your passport to the Embassy on Monday, February 14 or 28, or Monday, March 14 or 28, from 1:00pm – 2:00pm.

Please note: a new photo is required, and submitting the same photo as your prior visa will result in a processing delay. Applicants who arrive outside of these scheduled times or who do not bring all required documentation will not be permitted to submit their renewal applications.  The Embassy will make all efforts to process the renewals quickly, but cannot guarantee visa issuance or timeline of the application process.  Your passport and visa will be returned to you via Aramex.

Provide All Your Passports

If you are renewing your visa, please remember to provide all your current and expired passports.  Applicants with dual nationalities should present passports for both countries.  It is important you provide all your passports when you apply for your visa renewal so the consular officer can review your travel patterns for the complete time period.  If you do not provide all requested passports, you may be required appear for an in-person interview.

General Information

If the passport containing the prior visa has expired, you will need to first renew the passport, and then submit both the new and all old passports with your renewal application.  Additionally, all applicants must pay the $160 visa fee and bring a printed copy of the confirmation page of the online DS-160 form as well as a new 2x2 color photograph.

NOTE: Please keep in mind that submitting an application under this visa renewal service does not guarantee approval of a visa.  The adjudication of all visa applications must comply with all U.S. rules and regulations regarding visa issuance.
