How to Apply

Step 1

Complete the Non-immigrant Visa Electronic Application (DS-160) form.

Step 2

Log-in to our online applicant system and create a profile to pay the visa application (MRV) fee. Once logged in, choose “Schedule appointment”. As you go through the process you will answer the interview waiver questions which will evaluate your eligibility to apply for a visa without an interview.

Step 3

After you answer the questions, you will be prompted to pay the visa fee. If you are eligible to apply for a visa without an interview, you will print out the “interview waiver confirmation letter” which you will include with your visa application to be mailed.

Step 4

Please prepare the following documents to be dropped off with your interview waiver letter:

All Applicants:

  • The interview waiver confirmation letter with barcode.
  • The DS-160 application confirmation page for each applicant
  • One recent colored photograph (5 cm x 5 cm) taken within the last 6 months against a white background. The image must contain the full face, neck, and shoulders of the applicant in frontal view with a neutral expression, no head covering for men and no eyeglasses.
  • Current passport with a validity period of at least six months beyond the planned duration of stay in the US.  This passport must have two blank visa pages facing each other.
  • Expired passports with valid B1/B2 or B2 non-immigrant visas.
  • If a relative/messenger/friend/PRO will be picking up your passport, please include an authorization letter and a copy of his/her picture ID.

Applicants 14 Years Old and Under:

  • A copy of the child's birth certificate (do not send original)
  • Copies of both parents’ passport biographic information pages
  • Copies of both parents' valid U.S. visa
  • If one of the parents does not have a valid visa, then the parent without a valid visa needs to submit a notarized statement permitting the child’s application for a U.S. visa

Reciprocity Fee:

  • For B1/B2 visas, an issuance fee of OMR 6.000 must be paid to the consular cashier at the time of visa pick up. DO NOT INCLUDE ANY MONEY WITH YOUR DOCUMENTS.
Step 5

Go to the Consular Section interview waiver at the entrance of the U.S. Embassy.  Interview waiver hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, excluding Omani and US holidays

Step 6

At the end of the visa adjudication process, applicants will be notified by email when the visa is ready to pick up.   In normal circumstances, visa processing requires 3 business days. Passport pick-up hours are 11:00 am to 12:00 pm Sunday through Thursday.  When visiting the Embassy, please bring two forms of government-issued photo identification, as you will need to leave one with the security guards to enter the building.

Important Note: The use of the mail-in service does not guarantee visa issuance. In some cases, applicants may still be required to appear for a visa interview. Examples of this include incomplete and/or inaccurate applications.
