Overview
Qualifications for renewing a Visitor (B-1/B-2) visa:
The applicant applies to ALL of the following conditions:
- Possesses a valid B-1/B-2 maximum validity visa (or one that has expired within the past 12 months). Please check visa reciprocity by nationality in the following link before answering the question https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/fees/reciprocity-by-country.html.
- The visa was valid for 5-year B-1/B-2 visa and at the moment of issuance the applicant was under 14 years of age
- The visa has not expired within the past 12 months
- Has never been arrested or convicted of a crime, deported from the United States, denied entry to the United States, or have had any other problems or difficulties with U.S. Customs and Border Protection when attempting to enter the United States.
- Must not have been refused or revoked a visa in the last 12 months.
- The applicant is under 14 years of age and apply with any of this conditions:
- Both parents have the same type of visa valid.
- Posses an active ESTA.
- Posses a United States passport.
- Posses a legal United States residency (Green Card).
NOTE: If the visa was stolen BUT the previous conditions are in effect the applicant may schedule an appointment as a RENEWAL.
Applicants will be required to apply through the normal application process if ANY of the following conditions applies:
- The U.S. visa expired over 12 months ago;
- The passport is damaged;
- The applicant must travel immediately; or
- The applicant is a domestic employee and traveling as such.
All visa applicants must be present at the consular interview. This includes children under 14 and adults over 80.
