Expedited & Medical Hold Cases
On this page:
Overview
The visa appointment system is intended for eligible applicants who received written notification from the U.S. Embassy, Kathmandu that they must schedule an appointment online.
Expedited Cases:
Family based immigration petitions with a prior expedited approval are forwarded to the U.S. Embassy from the National Visa Center (NVC). When post receives these cases, they are often documentarily incomplete in order to save processing time at NVC.
Medical Hold Cases (IV/DV):
All Immigrant and Diversity Visa applicants must undergo a medical exam by an Embassy-approved Panel Physician. Information about the medical exam can be found here. Applicants whose medical reports have been delayed or who have been asked to perform the tests once again may come under this category. Such applicants are informed by the Embassy to schedule the appointment once their Medical reports are ready. Do not try to make an appointment before Medical reports are received.
Who is Eligible
Immigrant visa applicants including Expedited and Medical Hold visa applicants are eligible to schedule their immigrant visa interview appointment if they have been asked by the Embassy to schedule an appointment online.

(Please note that if your request for an expedite has been approved by NVC, you should wait for further instructions from the US Embassy in Nepal before attempting to schedule an IV appointment online.)
